On May 31, IOM together with a representative of Ministry of Justice held Facebook live session on labour migration to EU countries - benefits and risks.

The representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, State Employment Support Agency, Vocational Skills Agency and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement participated in the training. 

Expert guidance in countering irregular migration schemes, aiming to facilitate illegal stay of Georgian nationals in the EU, will help Georgia achieve a swift decrease in the number of unfounded asylum applications lodged by Georgian nationals in the Schengen+ area.

Introduction to new trends in the field of document fraud and advanced techniques of document inspection will help border authorities of Georgia strengthen their skills in identification of imposters and travellers with forged documents, contributing to Georgia’s border security.

Border Police of Georgia will strengthen its capacities in e-learning and improve outreach to public and border communities through EUR 70,000 worth equipment donated by the EU.

The Diaspora Business Forum was held on 10, 11 and 12 December, through the financial support of the European Union, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
 
The forum aimed to promote the involvement of the diaspora in the economic development of the country, to stimulate cooperation between compatriots living abroad and local businesses, to establish business contacts and to increase access to new markets for local businesses. The participants of the event - compatriots living abroad and foreign guests - have the opportunity to get acquainted with the investment and entrepreneurial environment of Georgia, state programs and initiatives to support business.

In the week 6-10 December 2021, IOM convened 21 Georgian officials of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a hybrid training session dedicated to sharing experiences as practiced in European countries in the area of processing applications by foreigners for Georgian visas.

On 18 November 2021, IOM Georgia organized the online training on International Recruitment Policies and Practices.

The representatives of the Labour Migration Division of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia and the Labour Inspection Office participated in the training.  The training sessions were led by the representatives of IOM Headquarters, with involvement of invited expert from UK.
